A 3D movie explaining the detection principle Copyright 2005 : A.Kappes, Physics Institute Erlangen University. A neutrino coming from the outer space enter the Earth near Japan, goes through it and interacts in the water above the seabed. The muon produced during this interaction illuminates the detector. Note : the ambient light and the light produced by the muon in this movie are from far much intense than in reality (Antares photodetectors are able to detect a single photon).
