The Antares group at IRFU invites applications for one post-doctoral research position in experimental astroparticle physics, in the framework of the KM3NeT consortium, aiming at defining the future European km3 neutrino telescope in Mediterranean.

The successful candidate is expected to play a major role in the activities of the work package entitled “Strategic issues and international networking” of the preparatory phase. This package is co-coordinated by IRFU. Its major objective consists in optimising the physics performance, study the technological implications and establish the time-scale issues related to various construction options or specific funding profiles.

The candidate will use the software developed in the earlier stage of the KM3NeT activities to pursue this objective. He will participate to the Antares data analysis and use the data obtained from the two other participating collaborations (Nemo and Nestor) as a return of experience for KM3NeT.

The SPP is a division with a hundred physicists working on about 15 particle physics international experiments, half of them concerning neutrinos, cosmology and astrophysics (Double-Chooz, K2K/T2K, Antares/KM3NeT, Edelweiss, HESS, Olimpo/Planck, Supernovae). It is located on the CEA Saclay research centre, 30 km south of Paris.

The position is funded within the FP7 preparatory phase of KM3NeT (2008-2011). It is available from September 2008, for a period of 1 year, extendable to 2 years. The salary depends upon the candidate career path. It usually exceeds 2000 euros net per month.

A letter of motivation, curriculum vitae, the list of publications and the names of two references, and letters of recommendation should be sent before May 30th, 2008 to the following address:
