The size of the coloured sphere is proportionnal to the amount of light received by the optical module (in fact to the electric charge obtained from the photomultiplier). The colour of the sphere depends on the arrival time. Before and after the muon crosses the detector, giving a signal symbolised by the green spheres, the detector receives the light from the optical background.
